Noordeinde Palace and the Royal Stables are both secure locations. Precautions must be taken to open up these locations to the public, such as requiring visitors to show valid ID upon entry. With a view to the specific security requirements in effect, the Summer Opening is only possible if all visitors to the Palace have their identity checked.

The personal data we process
Your personal data have to be checked to keep Noordeinde Palace and the Royal Stables secure, to check who visited the locations in case of incidents, to grant access to secure locations and to guarantee the safety of visitors, employees, objects and the building. The lawful basis for the processing of your personal data is legitimate interest. The processing of your personal data is limited to a minimum.
Your ID is checked when you enter the location. Privacy-sensitive personal data such as your passport photo and your Citizen Service Number are not stored.
As it is necessary to record certain personal data within the context of the security regulations, the basis for processing your personal data also lies in the performance of a contract: your visit to Noordeinde Palace and the Royal Stables.
Finally, you consent to the processing of your personal data by entering the locations and by having your personal data recorded. If your personal data are processed on the basis of your consent, you have the right to withdraw this consent at all times. If your personal data are (also) processed on a different basis, such as because your personal data are necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party, your personal data will be processed on this different basis.
Retention period for personal data
The Royal Household does not use your personal data longer than is strictly necessary for the purpose for which your personal data are collected.
The Palace and Stables are open to the public from 16 July 2025 up to and including 3 August 2025. Your personal data will be retained for no more than 48 hours after this period, before being automatically deleted. If your data are necessary for the purpose of an investigation into an incident, the personal data will be retained for as long as they are required for the investigation. The data are deleted as soon as they are no longer needed for the investigation.
Personal data security
The Royal Household takes the protection of your data extremely seriously and they are stored and retained in a secure and appropriate manner in order to prevent abuse, loss, and unauthorised access, disclosure and changes in line with the applicable legal requirements and guidelines.
Arrangements are made with the parties that process your data on our behalf in order ensure the same level of data security and confidentiality. The Royal Household remains responsible for these instances of processing.

Camera surveillance
There is camera surveillance in place at the locations that are open to the public for the purpose of supervision and security of the employees, visitors and objects and for the purpose of regulating access to the Royal living and working quarters. The camera footage may contain identifiable images of visitors. Camera footage is kept for up to 4 weeks.
Sharing personal data with third parties
The Royal Household always processes your data based on a valid legal basis. In addition, arrangements are made and appropriate measures are implemented to ensure that personal data are shared reliably, properly and carefully if needed for an investigation. Personal data are never provided to third parties for commercial purposes.
The processed personal data are stored securely and are not accessible to third parties, which means that the personal data are not forwarded to countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA) either.

Your rights
If the Royal Household processes your personal data, you, as the data subject, have a number of rights. You can ask to see your personal data that is processed and also request the correction, deletion, restriction of processing and transfer of your personal data. You can also object to the processing of your personal data.
You can request access to or the correction, deletion or transfer of your personal data, or withdraw your permission for or object to the processing of your personal data by sending an email to fgb@dkh.nl. You will receive a response notifying you of our decision within 4 weeks.
The rights set out above are not absolute rights. There may be circumstances in which the Royal Household is unable to comply with your request. If this is the case, you will receive a rejection containing the reason for that rejection. If you disagree with a rejection, you may contact the national supervisory authority: the Dutch Data Protection Authority. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) if you are of the opinion that we are infringing on your rights by processing your personal data.
Data protection officer
Please contact the Data Protection Officer of the Royal Household with any questions or complaints about the processing of your data or compliance with the privacy policy. The data protection officer monitors compliance with privacy legislation and advises the organisation on this legislation.
